How Do YOU Like the #NewTwitter?

For those who caught my article about the upcoming redesign and feature implementation known as the “New Twitter” … well, it’s here! I’ve been playing around with it and I have to admit, I will be much more apt to access Twitter through the new interface than I was the old. The layout is much more easily navigable, cleaner, and everything you’ll want to get to is accessible without a lot of clicking and screen changing. It’s also got a nice taskbar at the top, similar to Blogger’s, which provides easy access to everything without having to go back to the homepage or your profile. I especially like that you can view a user’s profile without visiting a new page — it slides out from the stream! (see screenshots below)

I checked out the mobile version, but I have to admit it’s been quite a while since I last viewed it so I can’t honestly say if there has been an update made to it or not. I’m assuming no. It’s got some nice additions since the last time I was there and the layout is great, but I don’t see anything drastic to convince me that it’s associated with the “New Twitter” :)

I was initially concerned about the width of the content wrapper being too wide to display Twitter backgrounds, but with the standard screen resolution on new monitors increasing, a majority of the visitors to any Twitter page will still be able to see the background. I was pleased to find that I could see my entire “sidebar” to the left of the content wrapper, so Twitter backgrounds have, in fact, NOT become a thing of the past with the new design. Granted, some people with older or smaller screen resolutions (especially those using the new “mini” laptops) won’t likely be able to see them, but I would assume them to be the minority at this point.
